Take the first 5 km. slower and then pick-up your pace. Good luck and enjoy the Montreal Marathon Matt!!!

Thanks Darius, I know I especially have a tendency to run the first kilometer way too fast (3:15-3:30 pace or so). I will line up with the grizzled veterans at the start line in the 3:00 to 3:30 group and run with them the first few kilometers

Feel ready for the marathon? btw. before the race you should have a pace set up before the start, and then just be really anal about that pace not to go below that time. Thenn you will feel great after 30km when passing everyone else who ran too fast in the beginning. high five.

Mathias I feel like I could run a really good 30km race right now, but I don't feel entirely ready for a marathon, so I will see how I do. I think I have a chance to crank out a 3:10 marathon, but I will try to follow a 3:30 pace or so for the first 4km or so and then take it from there. It is my first marathon, but I feel in order to be truly effective in Long orienteering races that this is a distance that I should be able to race.
