For those flying in into the Pittsburgh airport, there is an excellent public bus service that connects the airport to downtown and the university area (Carnegie Mellon, Univ of Pittsburgh). Exact fare is $3.25

The Boston Red Sox are playing at the baseball stadium on the North Side. Expect delays if transiting through that part of town.

If you are walking downtown, specially in the area around the convention center, expect to see "furries", aka people in furry animal suits, or just wearing a furry tail or furry ears. The annual Anthrocon is happening. If it stokes your interest, you can get a one-day pass for $30 (does Orienteering have a designated furry animal for mascot ?)

I seem to recall a CSI (original, set in Las Vegas) episode centered around "furries".

Update on traffic alert between airport and city of Pittsburgh for Friday mid-afternoon: the presidential motorcade will be passing through during a presidential visit, and highway closure at access ramps is expected. This only affects the western part of the city. The area of the two-day meet is 20+ miles out of the city to the East and Northeast.

if anyone thinking of going to the stuffed animal, furrie, plushie convention, make sure you carry either this or the other.
