Hi there

How is everyone? Great.

My name is Chris, and I am a 26 year-old teacher in Toronto, Ontario. I am looking to get in to Adventure Racing and mountain biking. I have a high performance sport background as a wrestler in university. Last year I did a couple of sprint triathlons. I train twice a day (too) intensely.

I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who needs a team mate or two. (I have a friend who may also participate) I want to train and compete seriously.

Anyways, looking forward to checking out the website and garnering some wisdom from everyone!

Thanks, and have a great sleep.

Welcome to Attackpoint Chris! Unfortunately I'm a few too many provinces to the east, but best of luck in your search. I know there are quite a few good people from ON on these forums who I'm sure can at least point you in the right direction.

Where are you looking to race? If you're looking for California events, visit California Adventure Racing Association, they are a great resource and can help you find teammates.

Cheers!

OP said s/he's (can't be sure with Chris) in Toronto, Ontario, which is why I suggested Sleepmonsters Canada, despite me being the other side of a large body of water (UK).

Hi there

How is everyone doing?
Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I've been on the Sleepmonsters site before. Where do I find the forums?

JMC1978, where are you based? I'm in Toronto, which is not New Brunswick, haha. So I couldn't train with you; if you train in TO but are thinking of traveling there... I could be convinced.

I have one friend who has committed; and we're aiming for Logs Rocks and Steel in September.
If there are any people in the Toronto-region who would like to get together for some training, I'd love to meet up!

Keep having fun

Chris, another great race for first-timers is the Emergency Services Adventure Race (ESAR) in Horseshoe Valley on June 18. Teams of three, biking, trekking and canoeing, all with map and compass navigation. You don't have to be in the emergency services to do the race - a number of civilian teams sign up.

You might also look into the various adventure racing and navigation clinics that are offered by various organizations in Ontario. I'm tired after a long race today so I'll just give you names to google but feel free to write me if you can't find the links:

- Wilderness Traverse
- Dontgetlost.ca
- Hark Events
- Angry Seagull

In addition to learning skills, you will also meet other people interested in adventure racing.

Btw, I've tested the race course for this year's Logs Rocks and Steel, and it is going to be awesome fun. Hope to see you there.

Hi there

How are ya?
Thanks a lot for your reply!

I have been to all of those websites, and been in touch with some of the organizers! I think speaking with people like you and other experts is the best way to learn! I'll probably be attending a couple of AR and navigation clinics.

If any one is looking for training partners (runs, orienteering, cycling)- please let me know!

Thank you again everyone for your input. What a group!

Keep having fun
