Corn Maze Orienteering is totally real.
Indeed. You know, the CMOUSA BoD can take away Champs sanctioning at any point.
;-)
J-J, I didn't mean to diminish the significance of your recent championship...
Championship aside, it's really real. We've got a disadvantage in this country when it comes to setting really high quality sprint courses, because we simply don't have intricate medieval cities like the Europeans do, but having experienced corn maze orienteering, I think it's a really viable alternative. The classic race, which was much more like what a sprint course in a corn maze would be like in terms of length, was quite humbling.
I think that any format that pushes beyond ones ability to concentrate fully is great sprint training. Perhaps we need to get into the 1:50 scale maps where over running controls is so very tempting :)
I would like to see inclusion of popcorn based snacks at the post-party by the way... as a form of retaliation for any miffed orienteers.
