It was strangely unsocial. I briefly chatted with Ross and Tim before I started, but there was nobody around but Pia (waiting for Mark) when I finished. And you were gone!
Which one was misplaced? (I didn't think the boulder at 4 was quite where it's shown on the map, though I still shouldn't have missed it if I had my eyes open.)
#9 was in the wrong place. Circle on the map was centered on a reentrant, clue was top of a spur. Control was about 3/4 of the way up on the spur to the SE of the reentrant in the control circle.
Around #11 there was an extra knoll (pretty good sized) and an extra stone wall segment. And map around #8 was more than the normal amount of flakiness.
Were you starting and finishing ahead of me or behind me? I started about 11:20.
I started at 12:05.
For 9, I figured the bottom of the spur was hidden by the circle, but looking more closely now, it seems the form line heads the other way. I went up the reentrant, cut to my right up the spur and there it was, so I didn't give much thought to how far east of the center of the circle it was. I didn't notice problems with 11 or 8 because I saw the feature quickly, and then the flag.
Wrentham? Yuck! The last meet I went to there was also antisocial, but the 40 degree and rainy weather didn't help.
My sister and my mom chose this meet to attempt to run Green for the first time (separately). Neither had a very enjoyable experience, but perhaps knowing that it's universally considered a not awesome place will be good for their self-confidence.
I think I've been there once, maybe around 1984, and definitely 40 degrees and rainy.
Well, I'm at least happy to hear you had no complaints about controls 1-4 and 13, which are on the part of the map I field checked......
The meet notes for Wrentham should always state that only undergrowth over 1 meter is mapped.
I just didn't have the heart to cover most of the map with vertical green lines.
