I have two top British orienteers staying with me (Chepis and Scotia) and they will be visiting NYC later this weekend. They were wondering where the best place to stay is? Downtown? out of town?

Ideas?

There is a hostel on the Upper West Side that I've heard good things about: http://hinewyork.org/
Otherwise, they could probably crash with me in New Haven, but it takes nearly 2 hours to get into the city from where I am.
How did they do in the Raid the Hammer?

Depends on what are they interested in doing in NYC. Are they just sightseeing or are actually here for some decent terrain training?

sightseeing with O in Central Park. Do you know where one gets Central Park maps.
Boris, only Chepis ran the Raid the Hammer. Scotia was sick. Their team was 4th.

Looks like staying in the city is the best option for them so they should definitely check out the hostel suggested by Boris, otherwise, they could poke around on the web and check out rates for nearby hotels as well. As for the map, I am guessing that Daniel (aka piutepro) can help out with those.

Thanks guys! They are doing a nice job on the sprint and middle maps for GLOF 2010. The sprint is a WRE so hope you guys can make it up for a fun weekend of racing. Maybe even have a betting system again for you Z-man. ;-)
