I'm looking forward to hearing more details on Eastern Canada's flagship race! Any dates being suggested yet?

I think I saw in another thread that you can contact the proprietor of this site and get an official listing for RTP once you've got the details sorted out.

I think it's Ken?

ken:
Yeah, you can submit a listing for RTP or any other upcoming race here.

(or go to "events" under the Racing tab above)

Be sure to include lots of information on the 2009 winners. People love hearing about them! It'll be bound to generate lots of interest.

Any reason why the eastern race directors don't bother ever posting anything on sleepmonsters.ca? 24k modems?

NSAR:
Good question urthbuoy.....we have actually posted on sleepmonsters.ca multiple times and will continue to do so in the future, but we are not going to limit our audience if we can help it.

24K modems? Nice. :)

I haven't bothered in the past since most of my races aren't usually long enough to be viable for teams outside of our local where we do exercise all avenues available. Other eastern races used to post up on sleepmonsters, but nother ever came of it. There was a time when we worked very hard to get ourselves going on Sleepmonsters! Right now NSAR and myself are the only practicing race directors with a few small exceptions.

We've got some big plans for 2010, both NSAR and my (currently unnamed!) organization. We hope to start attracting people form outside of our community, and I know at least one of my races will be worth the trip! Race the Phantom is already worth any trip! Part of our plan is to market ourselves better, and sleepmonsters, among many other sites like this one, will be use.

I guess that I should add that we struggle to get our own community to recognize our races, let alone the rest of the world! We really have to twist arms to get an audiance.

Your not alone in that, but keep in mind, you really are just advertising to those that already know about you. Want the broader audience - put together a quick story and photos (lead up, event, and afterwards). No strings attached. The limitations are only those you impose.

And teams like the publicity they get when the race makes an effort to get their name out. Helps with local sponsors and makes their family proud.

I hear you Chris!

The NSAR guys have always done very well, they need no lessons. Until this year I've always been a one person show, so I admittedly haven't promoted beyond our own community.

NSAR and I are initiating a local committee to help promote our races. NSAR can make calls an online interactions for my races and vice versa.

2010 is gonna be tight y'all!

I thought I did:

Raid the Farm 2006

That was the NSAR guy's first race ever!
