These videos always seem to get a laugh so I figured I'd resurrect them for everyone. We were doing a bike-whack just for fun and stumbled on a location that turned out to be a prime video opportunity:

I do love these vids, I have to admit. Truly heart warming!

I think the AP discussion board may never be the same after your invasion from the Maritimes. Much like the Norman conquests in England, the trajectory of history will be forever changed . . .

You know I still haven't downloaded footage from Untamed NE? I didn't get any during the race since our backpacks were already heavier than any reasonable load should be... but we got some fun stuff before the race.

I'll see if I can't get it to post up.

I really wish I had a video of that bear!

Where was the bear you found? I know there was a big one on the Maine/New Hamphsire border on the bike leg to the climb site . . . it was like a John Candy big bear (remember, "big bear chase me?").

Besides new shorts, I bought the industrial strength bear-spray after that close encounter.

I saw it at the Balsams Golf Course after the final bike leg and before the last o-course. Erica was sleeping with our bins and Shawn and I took the bikes up to the garage. Shawn stayed at the garage for some reason and I went back down to the bins. It was just before dawn, and if you remember there was a very slight fog that made the situation surreal.

I heard a noise, looked over and saw what I figured was a dog on top of one of the dumpsters in the parking lot. I thought that a wild dog eating garbage was a little ghetto for such a nice resort, and on closer inspection it was a little bear sneaking some breakfast. I was maybe 15 m away. Given that my faculties were lost somewhere over 30 hours ago I had to look at this for a while to determine whether or not it was real. With my hands on my knees I leaned forward and focused and I was confident that it was really there. It snorted at me and ran off down the hill into the woods. I felt bad that I ruined it's breakfast.

Actually I am pretty sure that was Nat.

Aren't you the hairy one on NSAR?

Oh, maybe it was me then.

Nah... I think it was a bear. It was late in the race, and it wasn't grimacing nor swearing enough to be you.

Perhaps the funniest video of all courtesy of NSAR:

The funniest part of the cartoon is that the discussion about trying to find that checkpoint is almost a direct quote. Mud was on my face.

One of my teammates just forwarded me the link to the NSAR cartoons. Super funny! I might be able to relate to events similar to those..... ;o)

Glad you're enjoying them... we're all having a field day with them! We gathered around the keg the other night at our annual AR Christmas party and watched them over and over again.
