Just imagining where you were - I've run a lot of those hills, too - makes me smile. Sounds like the weather was pretty crappy, though. Kudos to you for running through it!
I've never gotten through a marathon training plan with all my mileage intact, between injury, work and illnesses. What's key are the long runs and getting *most* of the mileage in...but the average plan has a lot of junk miles / recovery days, so once you're used to the extra pounding, you do have some wiggle room.
Apparently they do a marathon out here annually...not likely to play, that's a bit too long for the amount of training time I have. Might do a half marathon - apparently just about the distance around the perimeter.
It's a big COB (contingency operating base).
