Spent 6 hours this afternoon walking around Rome and thinking mostly about architecture and city planning. I thought more about the street layout and how people walk around than the actual buildings. The amount of stuff to look at here is overwhelming. I went numb at the thought of stopping to look at all the details I wanted to study.
Have you ever visited Rome? It's a crazy place. Without a doubt it is unlike anywhere I've ever visited. (But I will admit to being not-well-travelled.)
If you were setting a yellow course, you could place a control circle centered on Rome.
I've been to Rome once when backpacking through Europe. There were definitely a lot to be taken in - churches, sculptures, artworks, ancient monuments, etc... not nearly enough time to digest everything properly. And by the end, all the churches started to look the same!
Hope I'll get to go back again some day.
Backpacking through Europe? What was that like?
