That's an awesome achievement for you and TD! Lots and lots of hard work, but it really paid off.

I'm curious though... what does this mean?
The bears were a little tougher the second time...

There are 6 hills on the last 2.5 miles of the LP double loop bike course. This is after about 8 miles of steady uphill of varying slope. The first is a non descript riser called Big Cherry, not bad. Next is Little Cherry and less and not much to it. Then comes Mama Bear, a longer double twisting uphill. Quite interesting! After it is Baby Bear which you go over with Mama's momentum. Then you turn the corner to a high, longer and steeper uphill called Papa Bear. On race day, this hill is like Alp d"Huez on the Tour to France. People are on either side of the road and cheering you on. My goal was to climb Papa on the second loop without having to stand up.
Anyway, after Papa there is a hard right corner and a moderate uphill but you have little speed left. It levels a bit and then the last hill is a quick snap riser that drops you to low gear one last time. After, is the downhill to Lake Placid and the start of the second bike loop. Everyone who does the race knows the bears. I am thinking of doing an more in-depth write-up but it will take time.

Ah, thank you for clearing that up and painting a vivid picture of the bike section. You can imagine what I was visualizing! :-)
