Volunteers required for study
QUT?s Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation is looking for motivated adults (male) to participate in a study designed to establish the best way to determine maximal fat oxidation (?fat burning?).
Expected benefits to you:
Volunteers will be provided with detailed information about:
? their cardiorespiratory capacity (VO2max)
? their body composition
? how much energy they use during exercise
? the average amount of energy consumed over a three day time period
To be involved, you must:
? commit to attending up to 6 testing sessions over a 3-week period
? commit to undertaking five exercise tests, two of which will be maximal efforts
? be 20-45 years of age
? Participate in moderate amounts of physical activity (more than 150 min Moderate intensity exercise training per week or expend more than 1000 kcal per week in exercise)
? have a body mass index (BMI) less than 25 kg/m2 (to calculate BMI, simply divide your body weight in kilograms by the square of your height in metres? e.g. 100kg/(1.7m x 1.7m) = 34.6 kg/m2)
? be a non-smoker, weight-stable (±2kg) for at least six months, and medication-free (other than daily vitamins or other health remedies)
