Are you doing any track or road racing this spring? It would be nice to have a 3 or 5k benchmark for comparison later in the year.

Well i was sick for 3 weeks and my track coach said it's too late to join lol.

My dad was preparing me for the 3km for around 9:15 at least, and i was running intervals already, but since i can't join now, im back training overall and for my first university XC season! 10km on grass should be interesting.

If i do decide to run a road race, it would probably be a 10/15 km.
3's and 5's are too short.

IT would be great if you could make it into Hamilton on a Tues or Thurs night and run the summer rally loop we have. It is trail, woods, road and hilly (6km) with times in the 25-30 minute range.

MAC will be happy to have you on their XC team.

But I agree with Pither it would be good to do a 5K to get a benchmark.

is it every Tu and Th night? And run with you guys?

I don't know about 5km (where to run it), but i might do a 3km time trial on a track nearby just to see where i stand. Gotta gain some strength first though :)

There aren't many guys racing over 5-8k at your age though. Most xc will be 8k until Nats won't it? 5k speed is more important than 15k at your age. In a campus sprint, for example, you need to be able to get up to 800m speed really fast, then quickly slow down in detail, then get back up to high speed, etc. As you get older, the endurance will come with time.

hmm well in highschool, i run 7k on grass MUCH better than 3000m on track. Igor told me that they run all their XC races 10km on grass, which, to me, seems really good.
Also i don't know what 'Nats' is..
