Thanks for all you and Jim did.
I remember several times many years ago when I just barely got things ready in time. Always made it, but sometimes it was a lot closer than I cared for. But you got everything done and it worked out great.
Well done to both. We enjoyed the day, the course and the effort by all.
You may have felt like you were scrambling at the end, but I certainly think the event came off quite admirably, helped as always by a well-constructed course and accurate map. As one who has more insight into the process than many, thanks so much for all your time and effort.
I echo the others' thanks, and also appreciation for the shorter course which allowed me to finish in time (I would have been even faster if not for my complete idiocy at 6 (I hit the edge of the circle but never went far enough south to find it) and route out of 20.
I saw a non-BG control near a trail (on the way to 5L?) and wondered if it was on a rec course...
You and Jim and the rest of the BG volunteers did a great job!
Janet,
Glad to hear you enjoyed our forest! I spend alot of time there having lived on map since '95. Beth & I used to sleep out in tent about 100m fm the first control. We need to resume that kind of behaviour! Fun to see it used in this (BG) way. Always 'shocked' to see that I've/we've left yet another control out thru the winter. Jim Arsenault found one Sunday noted by some BG runners that was from the Oct '07 meet. About 2 wks ago, I drove into the field where you just parked. On the ground was one of our O signs - had been there since 11/1, day of local meet. I never went bk that particular way. Sat there on the ground thru the winter snow & snowmelt & was not really worse for wear...but we simply have to do better!
Route out of 20 was knarly if you were close to straight - I spent a bunch of time considering that & making sure the map said so.
