Congratulations on your sprints. It must have been nice to beat Glen Tryson in his home area.

Do they have the results up yet? I can't find anything...and it is 6am Saturday morning. I'm getting ready to take the el out to River Forest for the CARA circuit fill-in race that substitutes for the Park Ridge 5k.

Good luck this weekend. And remember: you're at the NA Championships! Run conservatively, eat carefully, get your sleep, and watch the beer intake. They don't have such good brewpubs back there as I recall anyway.

Later: OK. I found the Winsplits results. Damn! Nice time!

PG posted a lecture for himself for today's competition. See Note. He apparently wasn't too happy with his time yesterday. His reminders to himself might be helpful to you too this weekend.

...So a change is clearly needed for today. How about -- let's have a plan for each leg. How about -- let's remember that there are things like attack points and handrails. How about -- let's try to know where I am and where I'm going 100% of the time. ...

Hey! I did a 2008 PR out in River Forest this morning! Fast course, finished on the football stadium track. The Finish Line announcer was really hyping my finishing kick: "...and here comes 67-year old Clark Maxfield from Chicago, running like he was 40! And wearing Day-glo shorts you can see from outer space!"

No one asked me if i wanted to be in the elite sprints.

Barb was asking about it at packet pickup -- I think if you were on the sprint series standings, esp. near the top, you were considered interested unless you said no. I was ranked fairly high (because I went to a lot of sprints!), but knew I'd come in way last if running against the top 10. :-)

Day-glo wear:

I like to wear that stuff late in the season, when I have a good summer tan. Besides, I got those shorts years ago in Denver, at a pub near Mile-High stadium named "Maxfield's." The name is embossed on the shorts.

And congratulations on the sprint results. You're way up there with the M21+ guys!
