Great runs, Janet! (Well, based on the final times, anyway.) Looks like the training, incl. the speedwork, is paying off.
Really great to see the results from Sunday's race by 5 p.m., too! (Kudos to the results team :-).
Way to go Janet! Especially on the Long O. Awesome.
Thanks! I felt I did fine on Friday, really well yesterday, and okay today but I could have been faster if my knee didn't decide to rebel on the hill climb on the way to # 1 (I could have gone around with less climb and maybe not tweaked it). My knee was not hurting me at all until today, so I know it's the steeper climb that's bad (until it gets better). Don't what that means for the Billygoat next weekend, but I have another week to rest it. After that climb I was careful on other cross-reentrant opportunities and took the longer way around. I was extra glad to do the 6.3 k brown course (rather than the 7.8 k green).
I must say I was quite pleased with my campus-sprint time, under 10 min/k (possibly the first time I've ever done that... but it was a wide open/practically no climb area, so all I had to do was navigate cleanly, which I did).
Don't think I'll ever catch Sharon Crawford, though. :-)
Re: Sharon C... - me neither. :(
You are another "old" lady I have to try to beat. Won't you please stick to Brown? That is much better for my ego. :)
Valerie, you've done better than me on a lot of Green courses, so I don't think you need to worry about me. Despite me running as fast as I could and no mistakes, you still beat me on both the sprints on Saturday.
As for Sharon -- she's in a class by herself.
And I should have added, I don't think I'll ever catch Peggy, either, or Mary on a good day. (The only way I'll beat those and other faster ladies is if they make more mistakes than me.)
I was very pleased with my split to # 8 on the Ultralong compared to some of the others. All the M60's who beat me overall had longer splits on that leg except for George, whose time was only a few seconds faster. I suspect they all went on/near the beeline, while I took the longer "around" route on the road/trails to minimize climbing up and down those reentrants.
Doesn't do to get too pleased with myself, though. :-) That's when I get kicked in the butt...
