Discussion: 2023 USA Nationals - Information

Preliminary event information for the 2023 Orienteering USA Nationals in eastern Kentucky on March 24-26 is now available. More details will get nailed down in the coming days.

OCIN has blocked all lodge rooms and cottages at Carter Caves State Park. Most OCIN volunteers have already booked, and the remaining ones are filling fast. Call the park now if you want to get a room in the park, at (606) 286-4411. You must use the reservation code 3835. The nearest lodgings (that I would consider) outside the park are in Grayson, a 25 minute or so drive. Spanish Manor Motel is closer but does not look at all attractive (if that doesn't convince you, read the Trip Advisor reviews).

FYI - As of this morning all lodge rooms and cottages were booked.

Online Registration is now open. The information page has some updates as well.

For the JWOC team trials, should we register for the 20 or 21+ age group?

The Maze relay is included with the online registration. The 3 person relay teams will be put together just before the 5pm start so be sure to show up early

JWOC team trials should register for the -20 classes.

Please also note that JWOC petition candidates who are not coming to the Nationals must also use the online registration to declare that they will be petitioning for a spot on the team.

There is now a 2-bedroom cottage available at the park (we just cancelled our reservation).

Coming from a work trip, I'll be landing at the Cincinnati airport (CVG) at 10:05am on Friday 3/24. I'm looking a ride to the event site from there. I will contribute to gas expenses. I can also take local transportation to somewhere in the Cincinnati area if needed, to make this work. Once at the event, I'll be traveling with wife and son, Peggy and Max who will be arriving separately.
