Orienteering Cincinnati (OCIN) will be postponing the 2021 OUSA Nationals originally scheduled to be held at the Flying Pig on March 19-21, 2021. At this time, it is unlikely that we would be able to use at least one of the parks, and we cannot be reasonably certain that people from around the country would be able to travel to and from the Cincinnati area without restrictions. OCIN is presently discussing specific options and expects to have an update about this postponement by early January.
Orienteering Cincinnati (OCIN) currently is planning to postpone our plan for the 2021 OUSA Nationals to be the 2023 OUSA Nationals in late March, 2023. This will open the opportunity for another club to bid to host the 2021 Nationals later this year. Because of hunting and permit issues, we would not be able to use the venue currently planned for the long course later in 2021.
Hopefully you won't need to remap too much - the maps must be going to be nearly four years old by March 2023. Tough luck on you as event organizers.
Thanks Feet. The two forest maps are older areas to begin with; we certainly will have some continuing updating of trails and vegetation. The campus sprint is mostly a fairly new and modern campus - Keeping our fingers crossed that there won't be any major construction projects between now and them, although there are a couple open areas that would be suitable for expansion, and they could certainly turn some of their extensive surface parking lots into new buildings or parking garages.
I think it is safe to assume that colleges other than the very richest will not have much or any money to spend on new construction in the near future. Hopefully that will be true here.
Mike, thank you for the update! We are looking forward to 2023 for as always excellent OCIN events. Hopefully one of the USA clubs may step forward and host 2021 championships later in the year. Cheers, Sergey
