i don't love adding hype around Dirty Kanza because i think there are many equally deserving gravel cycling events that have opted out of commercializing the way DK has but......
Dirty Kanza is using a really cool tracking system for their 350-mile "XL" ride. I haven't seen it before. it's called TracTrac.
https://event.tractrac.com/viewer/index.php?target...main features that are amazing are
--live updates, as in I can see the dots moving on the road second-by-second instead of waiting for a ping every 15 minutes.
--live leaderboard with "time behind" the lead rider
--custom splits at checkpoints along the course (DKXL is using 27 checkpoints. looks like these are geo-fenced since they are definitely not manned)
--overall just a nice interface
(not sure about the most often-requested AR tracking feature...breadcrumbs).
anyway just wanted to bring this up as AR tracking tech is expanding!
