Thanks for calling me back, I don' think that I would have realised myself until the finish!
You were strong enough to run that course quite a bit quicker, so need to believe that mistakes, even when you get caught, are not the end of a race (Roar caught me at IOC at Lough Firrib but I managed to gain the time back). In long races everyone will lose time and go though tough periods, you just need to think that everyone else is finding it harder than you. And preparation (like not having a compass with a bubble!), is also just as important!

Not sure - think surely 20 wouldn't have made any sense and it would have clicked, but it certainly would have cost a good bit longer.

I think you're right about the other stuff, making the mistakes may have been poor, but probably dropping the head and letting the mindset change away from racing is more disappointing.
I thought it would require a really great race to be in with a chance of winning, and I was too focused on that as opposed to just getting on with it.

Anyway, a lot to take away from it. And some positives too, did feel fairly strong up until the end, even if keeping up did get a bit tougher later on! Was a pleasure to run with you anyway. Congrats on the result & the relay, and cheers for the advice.
