I had SO hoped you had a merino layer for the night on the river. Between rain and wind and plummeting temperatures..... Brrrr.

Yes, but boy I learned my suffer meter is a lot higher than I thought! During gear clean up I was right next to the Columbia Vidaraid team and they thought that sort of baselayer should have been required on the kayak. This race deviated a bit from the ARWS list, which I guess they can do, but the referees weren't happy about it and I think it may have been safer. I never did know what the low was or wind speed.
