We harvested bamboo when I was growing up. We would cut it with loppers. It took a few tries to figure out which model would do it without damaging the bamboo when you cut it but we figured it out. This also assumes the bamboo is small enough to do this. We also had an efficient way for removing branches that only required another small piece of bamboo.

It’s endless! Most of what we cut was 2-3” diameter, 15-20 feet tall. Hand saw. Arborists advising this non-profit Trees Atlanta. Only sliced my finger once! ;)

That sounds about the same size as what my parents have but maybe smaller because these are only rated for 2" and are a bit bigger than what we used.
