That doesn’t sound like running, sounds like social hour. Lol

that seems like every activity outside of the three people who enjoy the activity more than socializing. Dear brother complains about it frequently on his scooter outings. One guy at work asked regarding paddling, "do you ever just paddle, or are you always training?" Maybe I'll go canoeing with him sometime, where I can paddle like I want to paddle and he can take pictures like he wants to, with no speed mismatch like when I went with him in separate kayaks.

That guy at work sounds like my friend who comments disdainfully on trail running, e.g. "We *hiked* around Mont Blanc because we wanted to see the mountains." (Just try *not* seeing mountains in 40+ hours on those trails.)

For the 80% of training that should be a lower intensity, it may actually *help* to socialize while training.

Angelsimpson I totally thought of you when that happened. A few miles then a few people joined us, then another bit and met with some others and talked to them about going farther...then finished but I wanted a smidge more and a couple went with me then. A little strange (and chilly!) at times.

I could see it being social for hiking, but running? I guess it depends on why you are running? Perhaps that’s another reason why I don’t often do group runs, I want to do what I want to do and not have to conform to the group. Probably just my antisocial personality :-)
