Ha! Whups. It did seem strange that in a group of navigators I was the only one who saw the shortcut.

Three of us at the front of the line took off down the road and were surprised at how there seemed to be nobody behind us. Then we looked over to the right and saw the main pack passing by us across the field. Oh, well, it was nice to be out in front for a few brief moments...
