I wondered this past weekend if I should start incorporating hike a bike into my training, since it seems to be SO much harder than hiking without a bike. (Perhaps it would make me a stronger climber!)
Yes, it truly sucks and is no fun! I doubt I will do much training for it except for maybe working my way by a hill I know I can't ride on a few upcoming rides. It seems to work the shoulders and calves more than a standard hike, but its the mental aspect that hurts the most!
How rideable was the 100K ride at the Longest Day AR?
It was honestly pretty rideable, but we ended up hiking up a good number of hills - it became apparent fairly early that my legs weren't too interested in biking, and it stinks to have your lowest energy ride in weeks coincide with a race, and such a long one...
