tempting not to join you, but we got a wedding in alberta that weekend. the best training for stage races from my experience is not to get too worked up over getting super crazy long runs in, but rather getting in a couple 4 consecutive days x 2-3 hour training to get yourself into the feeling (physically & emotionally) of running on spent legs, maybe 5 weeks, and then two weeks before you head out to your race. oh day 4! amazing how you actually feel like you got fresh legs all over again after knocking off day 3! really! kinda cool how that works! :)
Good advice. Consecutive runs, here I come.
Thanks - that's helpful. Wish you could come! It will be different from other events we've done and I'd been thinking along similar lines - maybe a 4-day streak of Hockley Loops in early August.
I'm still trying to get back into a running rhythm and figure out what to do differently at this point. Maybe I could aim for 3-4 consecutive days of 10+ km each week - or replace one of the runs with a bike ride for now. Then maybe do a longer run and some hills on the weekend. We have a backpacking trip and canoe trip planned right when our training should be peaking so it's going to take some creativity. :) Not that I would trade those trips for better training; they're going to be fun.
