thanks to all of the competitors who have posted their courses on Routegadget - makes it worthwhile uploading the events to see such a good response- and also thanks to Alex and RonP for "clean" map, course and splits files that made the upload so easy.

Great stuff! Just a suggestion - I had more success with the "Manual" GPS upload (for the Long) than I did with the "Splits Based" for the Sprint. The latter didn't keep any of the changes I made as the GPS was off for many of the sprint legs.

I think gps tracking for sprints ( & splits-based load into RG) is pushing the technology for a couple of reasons - the larger scale shows up any inaccuracy in the gps position, even before the effects of shadowing & reflected signal are considered (as well as map adjustments for legibility) and any timing inaccuracy of the splits or sampling by the gps unit is proportionally greater for the short sprint legs than for long course legs.

The result is tracks through buildings, corners cut etc, which is a good indication that current technology is not usually good enough to use as the primary record of visiting control sites - still good enough for analysis of route choice and comparison.
