Ironic that kombucha is considered a natural treatment for giardia. I wonder if a doc would give you metronidazole based on symptoms. It might start working quickly so you can enjoy the weekend. Get well soon!

had to check it out.. Wiki

Although it has been claimed to have numerous health benefits, there is no good evidence that drinking kombucha has such effects.[3] By contrast, there are several documented cases of serious adverse effects, including fatalities, related to kombucha drinking, possibly arising from contamination during home preparation.[4][5] Since the mostly unclear benefits of kombucha drinking do not outweigh the known risks, it is not recommended for therapeutic use.

don't wait it out too long if you're not feeling well!!!

Yeesh! When I said "considered a natural treatment" above, it was absolutely not a recommendation and I should have said that. I was surprised that googling "kombucha giardia" brought up so many alternative health pages that make that claim when Funderstorm's experience has been the opposite. I prefer peer reviewed science. I hope you're feeling better today, Sally!!

Thanks guys! I'm 90% there but I was definitely thinking about going to a doctor earlier in the week. While under normal circumstances I love a good (store bought) kombucha, I imagine that I'll be staying away from it for awhile, even if it wasn't what brought on my tumultuous tummy problems!
