It's time for me to go for a run too.
Me too, I was so shocked and depressed it took me a while to get out of bed this morning.. :/
Seems to be the whole country is depressed. I have disconnected from the News and Internet and hoping that I would not hear anyone talking about the election results. Fortunately, even though I was out quite a bit yesterday I heard no one talking about it. Perhaps it is just this county which is a blue island. Good thing we have Orienteering and training as a diversion.
seems as though the blues and the reds are each on their own island w corresponding media outlets.
thats a great description... but where are the red islanders getting their news, I'd really be interested in giving it a fair shake if it was deserving? I've seen stuff on the internet but it could hardly be called 'media' by any stretch, more like clandestine hate slogans spray painted on viaduct walls dressed up to look like reporting. But I get that the ny times etc.have a slant to things as well.
my best guess:
in my eyes the alt-right media is obviously and overwhelmingly hateful and biased against "others" (women. non-whites. non-christians.). but in its readers eyes it is legit because it underscores and validates their beliefs, and motivated its readers to vote, tipping the electoral scales toward Mr. Trump.
it's the same reason i like listening to NPR, the reporting bias there matches my beliefs. i guess the difference is i believe all Americans should be treated equally.
it's a bitter consolation prize that Hillary won the popular vote. i believe we would have seen a very different response from Trump voters if this scenario would have been reversed.
not that Fox News is alt-right by any means, but a search i just did on their website turned up ZERO results for "hillary popular vote". where NPR has 6 articles dated Nov 9th.
