Start-1. I test-ran the first map the day of the sprint finals. I did both routes, left when test-running and right when heading out to Times Square to do the day 1 blue from April's A meet. I would swear that right is faster since there are an awful lot of rocks in that left-hand re-entrant, though I don't have splits. There isn't that much extra climb, either.

Yeah, I thought it was a good choice even though no one in sight ahead of me went that way. But execution was lacking, and it's not like it was hard.

Sure, RH route looks like a piece of cake :). I think I'd stick to the 100% handrail left route - despite the rocks - on a first-leg on Surebridge.

I was looking at the WOC 93 Long winner's routes at the Bundschuh's last weekend. Truly amazing the routes those guys were able to execute (at 1:15000, in the rain even).

It wasn't hard, just up the reentrant and turn left at the gap and you're right there. Except I was not paying attention to which reentrant I was in. When no gap showed up, there was no doubt what I'd done. There are places in the area you could make the control hard, but that wasn't one of them.

I saw the lead group running into the very stony looking ravine. I pulled right, up the gentle hill and along the hill side. Surprisingly good footing. This was pretty much Peter's route (I guess I was ahead of you) except in the end, when he followed the spur and veered east. Once I hit the trail I moved slightly left and found the reentrant leading right to the control.
Looking at the splits, I see Ross and Jon (I assume they went up the ravine) about 1/1.5 minutes ahead. Wyatt arrived at the control with me, coming from some other direction (the ravine, too?)
