As someone who, as was intimated elsewhere, was intimately involved in the a) Executive Director and b) Strategic Plan, Mark I, initiative(s), the process, but much more so the denouement of each, sparked and then stoked my brackish cynicism.

Of course, this is the way these things work... you think you are making chateaubriand and you end up, somehow, with sausage. I had no illusions ... I thought the both were worth a shot, fraught, not likely to succeed. But, failure stings, and if you look forward, and assess the path as leading toward more of the same, its hard to shake off the torpor of just finding a soft patch under a shady tree to while away the rest of one's days.

Any ideas for how to make things work well?

Since this has been a problem for thousands of years, I doubt I have much to add to the cannon. That said, good intentions married with an articulated vision and critical mass to sway the debate are certainly encouraging ingredients.
