If you didn't it looks like the chain mated to the old cassette and rings.

I knew the previous chain was done since it was jumping, and rings were originals with 5k on em, so everything will be new - shifter, chainring, cassette, d, and chain. 3x9 => 1x11
Also I acquired the gage to maybe change chains before chewing cassettes, if I can be slightly more disciplined and remember to check it.
