This is a good example of why I'm dumbfounded by how AP calculates time lost. On four, we both had a split of 2:51, it has me as having a slightly faster "speed" for the race, and yet it gives you a 30 second time loss and none for me. (I would estimate I lost 15-20 seconds by aiming off a bit too much to the stone wall and encountering some laurel.)

It is a bit of a mystery. AP shows me losing 52 there, which seems reasonable. Probably the same 20 you spent aiming off way too far right, and then a documented 30 finding the streamer, untying it from the broken stick it was on and rehanging it. My track shows me just standing there at the control for 30 seconds.

Yes, given the overall results, I would have expected you to have a predicted loss, not me. I hit the wall too far right, but not because of aiming off. I question the accuracy of the map relative to those two features.

I think you're right about the map being off, at least somewhat. What I've noticed in the past is that everything on the east side of the ridge is shifted slightly to the north relative to everything on the other side of the ridge. So as long as you stay on one side, everything is accurate, but when you cross over from one side to the other, you are a little bit off, maybe 30-40 meters?

Totally agree. Something to remember -- home turf advantage.
