Map in wrong box? Just you affected?
Always worth checking you have the right map before you set off, especially if you have a 2km first leg!
Starters here tend to tell every starter to check they have the right map, thereby putting the responsibility onto the competitor.

Composure, I need some of that!

Responsibility on me and the organiser - we normally have the course on the back of the map, but he had replaced it with a screed of safety info.

...and I programmed the talking start robot and forgot to insert "check you have the right map".

Probably just a bit mind-elsewhere as we were organising, but it was a big oops.

Yep, I'll be mentioning that in my course reviews.

There were actually course names on the back (second line) but they were ... um not useful (ie not actually specific) and (probably fortunately) in such a small font that they couldn't really be found.

I managed to do something similar on a course with a similarly long first leg at the WMOC long qualifier in 2014 (but without the option of getting a new start time).

Reminds me of something that happened here in the UK last year at the Interland. A lady came into the finish with a map where most of the circles were about 1/2cm off where they should have been. She said it cost her a podium. The organisers said it was her responsibility to check her course had been printed correctly. Not sure I agree with that.

Definitely not, although it's tough when only 1 competitor is affected. Makes you wonder if they were using an overprinter.
