The World University Orienteering Championship* (WUOC) is happening this summer in Hungary, and the US will be sending a team. Participating in WUOC is expensive, so to help raise money for entry fees, we will be organizing a Labyrinth-O at Morgan Territory on Saturday. If you haven't done a Labyrinth-O before, they're a lot of fun. We will create a maze and set an orienteering course within the maze. You have to navigate your way from control to control within the maze as fast as possible. You can use this as a warm-up on Saturday before racing or come back after you race to do the courses. The suggested donation is $5 for the first course, and $1 for each additional course. Please stop by and support the university students!

* WUOC is an international meet held every two years for university students. This year's event will be held in Hungary at the end of July. It's a high-level meet where many of the top runners in the world compete, and it's a good opportunity for America's college and graduate students to get international racing experience. It looks like the U.S. will be fielding a good team this year, including many JWOC and WOC runners.

We had a great turnout today with a total of 58 starts! Thanks to everyone for coming and running the labyrinth-o. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and many people even decided to do all four courses. There was some fierce competition on some of the courses with Jourdan and Eirik each winning one course and tying a second and Jennifer winning the last.

Here are the top three from each of the courses:

Course 1:
1) Jourdan Harvey (0:51)
2) Veli-Pekka Kuutti (0:55)
3) Erin Schirm (0:59)

Course 2:
1) Jennifer Jolliff (1:43)
2) Carol Walker (1:45)
3) Sharon Crawford (2:03)

Course 3:
1) Eirik Kamstrup Hvoind (1:12)
2) Jourdan Harvey (1:14)
3) Marin Haverstad (1:27)

Course 4:
1) Eirik Kamstrup Hovind (1:23)
1) Jourdan Harvey (1:23)
3) Graham Eckland (1:43)

Also, thanks to everyone who helped set-up and take down the maze as well as to those in BAOC who lent us the equipment and allowed us to set up the event! This was a lot of fun!

I'm curious, roughly how big is that cone maze you have set up... and how long did it take you to do it? Can you post a pic of the map?

It was 12 m by 12 m, and took maybe 30 minutes to set up with half a dozen people helping.

Winsplits are uploaded here. (Thanks Rex!) Sorry for any misspellings, lack of capital letters, etc. There were several of us in charge of the computer at various times and sometimes there were several people to deal with at once, and I didn't have a chance to go back and fix the names before they were posted.

Also, here are images of the four maps.
