will never understand the concept of even splits. The excitement of running is way too much. When its hotter my older dog has gotten better knowing that he will overheat if he doesn't settle in sooner. The other dog will just go and exhaust himself still though.

Berkeley is the worst for this! All out sprint for the first maybe mile, and then he draaaags. He's getting older, so the heat is really hard on him, but he doesn't remember that until he's down to a walk.

Hmm...finally in the know that Tess is a dog and not a human. Kinda funny to read as though a human. My running buddy, Artemis, Is not know for negative splits but the harness has helped.

Artemis is a dog. And I love her. But she loves my son more.

Not following you lately and forgetting your dog's name, from last 3 training entries I wondered if Erl was your dog. Even "carrying your grocery-getter pack". :)
I've always been bad at remembering names!
