buried/dumped or removal/demolition from a building?
It was up on Bruce Ridge so I assume buried or dumped. They aren't trying too hard to keep people out ... no fence, just a few little signs with a polite request to stay out.
interesting. it really depends on what type is there. if its bonded sheeting it isn't too dangerous, but friable stuff is pretty nasty. the worst times would be when they are working and potentially stirring up dust.
I assume it's on top of the northern ridge? I'm (just) old enough to remember when that was the tip for the northern suburbs of Canberra - would have closed around 1977 at a guess?
Yes, just south of Ginninderra Dr.
You got to it via a dirt road (where the bike path now is) off Dryandra Street in O'Connor - the dirt road, which I think was the original farm road from before Belconnen's suburban existence, kept going all the way to where Radford is now (the stadium, CIT and Calvary Hospital didn't yet exist and the area was more or less undeveloped).
